My favorite scary movie so far this year is The Mask of the Red Death (1964) starring Vincent Price, the classic horror film actor. The movie is based on a horror short story of the same name by Edgar Allan Poe. It is about a prince who terrorizes the local peasantry while using his castle as a refuge against a plague ("Red Death") sweeping across the land. I especially like the cinematography of the film. To me, the concept of "Death has no master" is as thought-provoking as it is scary. Admittedly, this adaptation is more artsy than scary. Have you watched the movie? It is available on YouTube.

I read the short story as part of the Season of the Witch Read-Along happening this month. You can listen to the audio recording of The Mask of the Red Death on YouTube as well. It's only about 15 minutes long.

What's your favorite spooky movie? If scary is not your thing, what is your favorite thriller, suspense or Halloween themed comedy?

The giveaway runs October 18th - November 1st and is open worldwide to  anyone 18+. 1 winner will win the Prize Pack and 1 winner will win the  Scavenger Hunt Prize Pack. Laughing Vixen Lounge is responsible for all  giveaway details. Click HERE for  full details.
