AUTHOR INTERVIEW WITH LENA GREGORY

Who is your intended audience and why should they read your book?

I’m hoping people who enjoy cozy mysteries will enjoy Scone Cold Killer. It offers an interesting cast of characters in a fun small-town setting and an adorable Bernese Mountain Dog puppy.

Tell us a little bit about your cover art. Who designed it? Why did you go with that particular image/artwork?

My publisher, Lyrical Press, actually handles the cover art, but I do get to share my ideas. My editor and I worked on the ideas for Scone Cold Killer’s cover together, and I am absolutely thrilled with it—especially the puppy!

Who is your favorite character from your book and why?

That’s a hard one. I love Gia, the main character, and I really feel for her, because she’s in way over her head. And Detective Hunter Quinn is awesome, but I think my favorite character is Gia’s friend, Savannah. She’s fun and happy and as the series progresses, we begin to learn a lot more of her back story. She’s the kind of friend everyone needs, loyal to a fault, no matter how much trouble you get yourself into.

Do you have any unique talents or hobbies?

I don’t know that it’s unique, but I love dancing. I started when I was four years old and never stopped. I taught dance and acrobatics for more than twenty years and choreographed and directed high school musicals for five years.

How can we contact you or find out more about your books?

I love to connect with readers and can often be found hanging out on social media and attending Facebook parties.

What can we expect from you in the future?

Clairvoyant and Present Danger, Bay Island Psychic Mysteries #3, is due to release on February 6th. Murder Made to Order and Cold Brew Killing, All-Day Breakfast Café Mysteries 2 & 3, are due to release in June and September. After that, I’d love to continue that series as well as begin a new series.

What can readers who enjoy your book do to help make it successful?

The best thing a reader can do to help an author is to leave a review. If you read a book and enjoyed it, take a few minutes, even if it’s just a line or two, and let people know.

Do you have any tips for readers or advice for other writers trying to get published?

The best advice I was ever given about writing is, “Write your book.” Everything else can come later, but you have to finish your novel before you can do anything else.

Is there anything else you’d like to say?

Thank you so much for having me.

For Florida diner owner Gia Morelli, there’s no such thing as too much breakfast—unless it kills you . . .

When Gia Morelli’s marriage falls apart, she knows it’s time to get out of New York. Her husband was a scam artist who swindled half the millionaires in town, and she doesn’t want to be there when they decide to take revenge. On the spur of the moment, she follows her best friend to a small town in Central Florida, where she braves snakes, bears, and giant spiders to open a cheery little diner called the All-Day Breakfast Café. Owning a restaurant has been her lifelong dream, but it turns into a nightmare the morning she opens her dumpster and finds her ex-husband crammed inside. As the suspect du jour, Gia will have to scramble fast to prove her innocence before a killer orders another cup of murder . . .

Lena Gregory lives in a small town on the south shore of eastern Long Island with her husband and three children. When she was growing up, she spent many lazy afternoons on the beach, in the yard, anywhere she could find to curl up with a good book. She loves reading as much now as she did then, but she now enjoys the added pleasure of creating her own stories.

  1. I totally agree with your "Favorite Character" answer. Hunt is definitely awesome, and Gia is SO in over her head — such a city girl.

Will you delve deeper into Savannah's back story? Concerned readers — and Gia — want to know.

    1. Hi! Thank you :) Yes, book two in the series, Murder Made to Order, gives a much more in depth look at Savannah's past and how it relates to her present.
