by C.M. McCoy

GENRE: Mature YA Paranormal Romance

As seen in People Magazine…

Hailey's dreams have always been, well...vivid. As in monsters from her nightmares follow her into her waking life vivid. When her big sister goes missing, eighteen-year-old Hailey finds the only thing keeping her safe from a murderous 3,000-year-old beast is an equally terrifying creature who has fallen "madly" in love with her. Competing to win her affection, the Dream Creature, Asher, lures her to the one place that offers safety--a ParaScience university in Alaska he calls home. There, she studies the science of the supernatural and must learn to live with a roommate from Hell, survive her ParaScience classes, and hope the only creature who can save her from an evil immortal doesn't decide to kill her himself.

Nowhere to Hide
“Judge of your natural character by what you do in your dreams.”
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Hailey plunked her head on the desk and groaned. Why, why…why couldn’t she just tell Asher that she wanted out, that she was afraid—afraid of the others, afraid of dying, and even afraid of…of him. After all, he was planning to kill her. Only temporarily, but still.

She couldn’t believe she was even considering it, but she had no choice. If Asher didn’t kill her, one of the others would.

And Asher protected her. He cared about her. He loved her, right? Asher—an emotionless creature. Hailey wasn’t sure if he was even capable of love.

Oh, this made absolutely no sense. Kill her to save her? Was that love?
Freshman year at her dream college was turning into nightmare, and as she rolled her forehead on the desk, the library’s impossibly large ceiling clock echoed a thump with her heart. She simply had to pull on her big girl pants and tell Asher she was done.

That’s all.

She squeezed her eyes shut as a swarm of butterflies took flight in her stomach.

Lately, she felt an awful lot like Jekyll and Hyde: logical, rational ParaScience student by day—emotional monstrosity at night. Come to think of it, this was more like The Phantom of the Opera, and she was the naïve student who didn’t realize the secret and strange angel she’d come to know was actually a homicidal maniac…

“I’m not a maniac.”

Hailey jumped up. She didn’t mean to say that out loud.

Asher slid behind her, putting his lips next to her ear. “But I suppose I am homicidal,” he whispered, his breath on her skin sending goose bumps down her arms and legs.

She leaned into him and sighed.

So much for steadfast resolve.

Wrapping his arms around her waist, he pulled her closer.

“How did you know I was here?” she whispered.

“You were dreaming, Hailey,” he murmured. “I’ll always find you when you’re dreaming.”

An excerpt from WHEN THE SERPENT BITES by Nesly Clerge | @GoddessFish & @clergebooks Present #Thriller + #Giveaway

Goddess Fish Promotions has organized a virtual excerpt tour for When The Serpent Bites by Nesly Clerge, a crime fiction, psychological thriller available now.

by Nesly Clerge

GENRE: Crime fiction, psychological thriller

Frederick Starks has it all—a gorgeous wife who was his high school sweetheart, three beautiful children, a mansion and cars others envy, millions in the bank, respected in his community, admired by his employees, loved and respected by loyal friends. He revels in the hard-earned power and control he’s acquired. As the saying goes, “All that glitters is not gold,” which Starks discovers when gut-wrenching betrayal by his wife sends him over the edge and into a maximum security prison. There, Starks is a new “fish,” stripped of nearly everything he’s always relied on. In that place, where inmates and guards have their own rules and codes of conduct, Starks is forced to face the darker side of life, and his own darker side, especially when the betrayals, both inside and outside the prison, don’t stop. He must choose which path to follow when the line between right and wrong becomes blurred: one that leads to getting out of the physical and emotional hellhole he finds himself in or one that keeps him alive.

After two months in the same cell, with infrequent one-hour respites outside the cell for exercise and showers, Starks used the plastic fork delivered with his dinner tray to rip at the veins in his wrists. It was a painful, pathetic attempt with a sad excuse for a tool but it landed him in the infirmary for treatment. And there, Starks saw an opportunity to surreptitiously acquire a small treasure.

He wasn’t kept in the infirmary but was put on suicide watch and moved to yet another similar cell, one with a round-the-clock surveillance camera placed out of reach, and one of the usual thin mattresses on the bed. This time someone made sure he had his hour out of the cell each day, and he was told he’d have to meet with the prison counselor, as soon as it was set up.

Two afternoons later, on his way to the yard segregated for prisoners in isolation, Starks overheard a couple of inmates comment as he passed them: He’s on suicide watch; he’s considered a wild card—stay clear of him; acts like he has nothing to lose; unpredictable—stay outta his way.

Assumptions about him had run through the inmates like wildfire. They were right that at times he didn’t care if he lived, but that feeling inevitably was replaced by a desire to survive. That his behavior was unpredictable was a fact, one he was having difficulty wrapping his mind around. That his value on life—his or anyone else’s—being non-existent was erroneous, he was relieved to realize. If inmates believed, and advised others, that it was best to avoid him, that worked in his favor, as far as he was concerned.

The other twenty-three hours of silence every day were getting to him. Starks’s grandfather had told him silence could be a refuge, a resting state for the mind, a friend of sorts. Silence was just another enemy he faced in his enclosure within an enclosure. With every moment of silence, he descended into an orgy of emotional hurts, sadistic analytical reasoning, and memories of a past best forgotten.

But he knew he wasn’t going to be allowed to forget.

Musings of an Earth Angel
by Suzanne Adams

GENRE: Young Adult/New Adult

22-year-old Samantha Kingston had the perfect job, perfect boyfriend, and perfect Friday nights. When disaster strikes she loses everything and is propelled into a journey where evil and good, dark and light are battling for her destiny. Will the Demon Brigade viciously destroy her? Or will her Angel team and the Divine help her to elevate and see her real truth as an Earth Angel?

I had heard of being possessed by demons, but I never thought I would be so lucky as to get to have the experience firsthand. Once again, I could feel my body trembling and that strange bitter saliva building in my throat. I needed an exit strategy—and fast. I’d learned to expect and accept crazy episodes, but I had hoped I could at least enjoy Rose’s birthday dinner out with my friends.

Sweat trickled down my forehead, and I pushed my chair away from the dinner table and staggered to my feet. Rose grabbed me by the forearm. She and the others had already enjoyed three bottles of Prosecco; and the night was just getting started at La Lune et La Soleil, the hot new restaurant in midtown.

Rose raised her voice above the clink of glasses and hum of conversation. “Where are you going? Jacob’s just getting to the good part. You gotta listen.”

With sweat now dripping down my cheeks and the back of my neck, I sat back down as Jacob continued with his crazy story. He’d been over served at a party a few weeks ago and jumped into a parked cop car. The keys were somehow still in the ignition, and he drove through town shouting at random people through the car’s megaphone. Then he somehow managed to escape without the local cop tracing him. He’d gotten away scot-free—so far.

The waiter brought over the first course and Ken, a good friend to both Rose and me, proposed another toast. “To the beautiful birthday girl and to another great year of us all having fun together!”

I raised my glass of sparkling water—I could barely stay sane as it was these days and was terrified to think how my body would react to alcohol, at least for now anyway. Woozily, I toasted my dearest friend as best as I could. I fought to keep my eyes from rolling into the back of my head and almost dropped my glass.

“Whoa!” Ken said. “You sure that’s just sparkling water?”

Author Interview:

Tell us a little bit about your cover art. Who designed it? Why did you go with that particular image/artwork?

I LOVE the art work and design for my cover!  My dear friend Amber Hargett designed the cover! We did a little brainstorming in to the feel of the book and Samantha, the protagonist and went form there.  Amber captured the vibe I wanted perfectly!!

Give us an interesting fun fact or a few about your book or series:

Even though it is a fiction book, there is quite a bit of truth to it.  Most of the characters were inspired from someone that I know.

What other books are similar to your own? What makes them alike?

I'd say my book is similar to Twilight and Hunger Games, but with a totally different spin.  It is a quick read with a lot of action and adventure like both of those series.

How can we contact you or find out more about your books?

What can we expect from you in the future?

A lot more!  I am just getting started.  I am working on the second book of the series now.  I know that someday soon the Musings of an Earth Angel movie will be in the works too!

What can readers who enjoy your book do to help make it successful?

Share it with their friends and on social media!! I would be super grateful!!

Do you have any tips for readers or advice for other writers trying to get published?

Yes!  Start before you are ready.  Know that is you have a desire to write a book, then you are supposed to do it.  Be persistent and know that the first draft doesn’t need to be or have to be perfect!

Goddess Fish Promotions has organized a virtual super book blast tour for The Trouble With Seduction by Victoria Hanlen, a Historical Romance available April 25, 2016 from HarperCollins Carina UK.

The Trouble with Seduction
by Victoria Hanlen

GENRE: Historical Romance

Rebellious, Scandalous and Irredeemable

Sarah, Lady Strathford is ready for a little harmless frivolity with a man of her own age and her own appetites…surely that’s not too much to ask! After the death of her beloved husband years before Sarah is ready for an adventure… Enter the dashing, roguish – and baffling – Mr Cornelius Ravenhill.

Ravenhill, however, is not the gentleman he seems, and soon Sarah finds herself battling against the corrupt and harsh world around her as it threatens to destroy all she holds dear. The question is, will her seduction at the hands of Mr Ravenhill prove to be her saviour or her downfall?

"This excerpt is from an unedited ARC and there may be small changes in the final book."

“Good morning, my lady?” Ravenhill’s playful rumble resounded around the garden.

Sarah’s finger flew to his lips. Even though she’d decided to choose proving her innocence over possible gossip, caution had been too well ingrained for her not to heed its call.

She towed him through the door and locked it behind them. The lantern she’d left to light their way glowed weakly in the narrow, rock-lined tunnel.

“Is this a secret entrance, my lady?”

She exhaled in exasperation, and whispered, “My staff’s ears could win prizes.”

Ravenhill removed his cap and hunched under the low, curved, rock ceiling. His muscular physique filled the confined space reminding her of the tight spaces they’d encountered in the rookery. How easy it would be for her to accidentally brush against him. “I prefer we not be discovered.”

Lantern light caught the glint in his eyes. A moment passed before his gaze moved beyond hers and into the tunnel.

He gestured with his cap. “I confess, I’m all aquiver to begin our search.” His drawled words sounded like veiled intimacies. He seemed in a mischievous mood… and so early in the morning.

“Mr. Ravenhill, please talk quietly. I fear our voices may carry.”

He dipped his head further. His warm breath tickled her ear. “Should I consider myself special… to be shown your secret entrance?”

Innuendo, coated with a healthy dose of charm, wove through the smile in his voice. Her insides started to flutter. Men had never flirted with her, and she didn’t know how to respond. Instead, she grasped the chain around her neck, grabbed the lantern and tripped down the passage. A door appeared on the right. Unlocking it, she lifted a tapestry and led him into a small chapel where she stepped to the altar and knelt.

“Do you pray for your past sins or your future ones, my lady?”
