Synopsis
A murder mystery weekend becomes a little too real in the latest Bay Island Psychic Mystery from the author of Death at First Sight
—
Cass Donovan uses her skills as a former psychiatrist to get away with pretending to be psychic, but she’s not about to let anyone get away with murder…
The outlook is not so good for Cass’s psychic shop, Mystical Musings. With winter winds discouraging tourists from riding the ferry from Long Island to Bay Island, Cass hopes to draw in more customers by hosting a murder mystery weekend, complete with a séance, in a supposedly haunted mansion.
But Cass begins to lose her spirit when her ex-husband shows up, along with his fiancée—Cass’s ex-best friend. Then, after one of the guests is found dead, a blizzard blows in, trapping everyone inside with a murderer. Now Cass must divine who did the deed before her reputation and her livelihood fade away.
My Thoughts
“Stop the car!” [first line]
I must admit the mention of psychics or conjuring usually gives me the heebie jeebies. However, the idea of a former psychiatrist with pretending to be psychic was way too interesting to pass up. And I'm so glad that I didn't miss the opportunity to read Occult and Battery (book two of the Bay Island Psychic Mystery series).
This is a well-written cozy with a touch of paranormal (and a hint of romance). I especially liked the author's writing style. The story had me changing my mind about "who done it" and why right up until the very end. I love it when that happens. It makes reading fun.
From dealing with lingering feelings from a bad past to relationship to struggling to train a gigantic bundle of energy and mischief (her puppy, Beast), Cass is a relatable amateur sleuth. I look forward to reading more of her adventures (with her business and her dog) and watching her sleuthing skills develop. She is supported by an interesting cast of characters - her two best friends and the residents of Bay Island.
This book is definitely a buy.
I plan to order Death at First Sight, book one of the Bay Island Psychic Mystery series from Amazon next week. When Lena Gregory releases book three, I'll be ready!
I voluntarily reviewed a complementary copy of this book in conjunction with this tour.

About The Author
Lena lives in a small town on the south shore of eastern Long Island with her husband and three children.
When she was growing up, she spent many lazy afternoons on the beach, in the yard, anywhere she could find to curl up with a good book. She loves reading as much now as she did then, but she now enjoys the added pleasure of creating her own stories.
