EXCERPT:

Manhattan, November 1971

Standing in the men’s department at Macy’s, Diane Gannon smiled as she enthusiastically fingered her way through layers of folded sweaters to find one for her fiancé, Jack, who’d soon be coming home from the war in Vietnam. Alongside her was future mother-in-law, Grace Morro, also smiling as she held a shopping bag in both hands. Out in the center aisle, heel-clicking women shoppers marched along on their way to Ladies’, some of them peeling off near Diane and Grace into other rows and racks of men’s clothes. Brightening the scene, broad paths of sunlight flowed through the large windows on Seventh Avenue, revealing rows of appealing merchandise as saleswomen stood behind glass counters, chatting with customers or placing clothes in gift boxes.

Diane stood in low heels, wearing a brown suede jacket over a white sweater and black slacks, her dark, reddish hair pulled back in a ponytail, her sculptured face of fair skin and striking eyes heightened by a cleft in her chin. Holding up a light blue sweater by its shoulders, she looked over at Grace and said, “What do you think, Mom? Wouldn’t this look great on Jack?”

Wearing a gray overcoat open down the middle, Grace nodded. “Yes, it would. It really would, but I can’t stop feeling nervous about him. Him still over there. Won’t stop ’til he’s home. Two years of worrying. Sorry, hon.”

Diane lowered the sweater and arched her eyebrows at Grace. “Thirty-five more days and all our worries will be gone! He’ll be home just before Christmas!”

Grace nodded. “Meantime, he’s still over there, in the fighting.”

AUTHOR INTERVIEW:

To  Readeropolis:

My intended audience is wide since the book has very little boundaries -- except I would say young ages.

I came up with the title to reflect the theme and storyline -- 'Deception' because that is the focus of the book.

Cover design comes from my artist, Carol Mealy, and David Jensen, who submitted several possibilities before we chose the cover with some changes in color and placement.  We went with it after several choices.

My favorite character is Lieutenant Jack Morro after his escape from prison in Vietnam.  He's stunned by what he finds (he was thought to be dead or in prison.)

My least favorite character is media giant Vidal, who has a secret bind with Jack's suspected death.
My love of reading came from my mother early on.

I expect to continue novel writing after I promote this third novel, which has just been released.
Readers can help by letting friends know about the book.  Word-of-mouth does it all.

My advice for other writers is to read Writer's Digest monthly and to follow their advice as well as contacts they provide.

Thank you.
Samuel Jay

USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR

Ellison Russell wanted a decorator, not a corpse. Too bad she finds Mrs. White in the study killed with a revolver. Things go from bad to worse when she finds Mr. White in the dining room killed with a candlestick. With so many bodies, is it any wonder Detective Anarchy Jones’ new partner considers Ellison a suspect?

With the country club gossips talking a mile a minute, an unexpected cocktail party, a visit from Aunt Sis, and a romantic decision, Ellison hardly has time to think about murder. Unfortunately, the killer has plenty of time to think about her.

Trouble Cove
by Nancy Lindley-Gauthier

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Historical Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Far from the all the action of World War I, in a charming tourist’s spot on Cape Breton Island, Elizabeth Eames has stumbled into the most wonderful man in the world. She’s landed herself in a world where wealth reigns supreme; where any eligible bachelor would meet her mother’s highest aspirations. Of course, Elizabeth is dead set on the one she’s certain should not be mentioned in letters home.

Actually, there’s a lot she’s not mentioning. Something is not-quite-right at the grand resort Oceanside, but Elizabeth isn’t giving up her job on the basis of a few little suspicions. How likely could some monstrous crime be happening under her nose, anyway?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPT:
“No! It is too much!"
Genevieve descended the stirs so replete in embroidered and feathered and rhinestoned ensemble that she shimmered and fluttered and floated with every move. I could more easily list the fabrics and items not used than describe all those included, and how they wove together in a fascinating clash of styles, colors and sense. She might have started with a dress recalling the extremes of Victorianism, but even they had the sense not to array themselves in every bit of their finery all at once.
Madame Chatillon pressed both hands over her face and desperately tried to block her laughter.
AUTHOR Bio and Links:
“Born in the sight of water,” are old lyrics that speak for me: For those of us from coastal towns, the sea forever calls.
“Trouble Cove,” features a journey up the eastern coast of Cape Breton Island – Nova Scotia’s northern tip – and the sea, in this, is more than the most romantic of backdrops. Wind and wave become part of the tale.
Like so many who have once visited Nova Scotia, the memory of iits rugged beauty fills me with an endless desire to return.  Likewise, the island’s siren song entwines the plot, throughout; Trouble Cove.
Q&A ft @JohnGeers, Author of EMERGE BEYOND CIRCLES + Prize Pack #Giveaway | @GoddessFish Presents #Fantasy
Goddess Fish Promotions has organized a Virtual Name Before the Masses Tour for EMERGE BEYOND CIRCLES by John Geers, a fantasy available now from Small Ring Publishing.
Emerge Beyond Circles
by John Geers
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

GENRE:   Fantasy

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Two couples from Madison, with entwined destinies, both seeking love, are connected by a single element: the ancient Siberian witch, Thuban-Pol. Her magic will either be their savior or their ruin.
Thuban-Pol is the latest in a lineage of Siberian witches. Their eternal aim is to guide humanity to true love. Their guiding tenet, “For love to bloom, these three endure: sacrifice, perseverance and suffering. But the greatest of these is suffering.”
Since the dawn of humanity, they have summoned countless couples, inflicting suffering with the intention to grow true love. They have never succeeded…but now they have their best opportunity in two couples from Wisconsin.
If they succeed, love will finally bloom for all of humanity, if the suffering inflicted on these couples doesn't kill them first.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXCERPT:

The relief of a spilled secret washed through him, nourished by the fresh sting of bourbon on his throat, and a cruel tickle of his soul. A tickle not felt since before his sight was ripped from him in a Siberian gust.

The bottle on the bar, keeper of amber bourbon and his secret, stood silent, solid. To be sure, he chose a reliable friend in which to confide. Old Crow bourbon had been the drink of choice for Ulysses S. Grant, victorious general of the Grand Army of the Republic, for the Yanks of the North, during the Civil War. The secrets the General poured into the golden bottle were severe enough to flip the result of the war. Yet, they remained safe, locked behind the sealed beak of the black crow perched on the label.

Unseen by him, light from neon beer signs bounced off the bottle at peculiar angles, a queer spotlight on the label.

The cigarette smoldered and sagged in the ashtray.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
AUTHOR INTERVIEW:
Who is your intended audience and why should they read your book?
My audience is anyone who has loved, been loved or grappled with the meaning of love. So…most of us.
How did you come up with the title of your book?
The title of the book is revealed throughout the book and only fully understood once the final word is read. It works.
Tell us a little bit about your cover art. Who designed it? Why did you go with that particular design?
The design is a beautiful representation of the shack of the eternal coven and a couple summoned to it…in search of true love.
Who is your favorite character from your book and why?
I love the Siberian witch Thuban-Pol. She is a very complex individual who struggles with tradition, her duty, and the eternal quest for love.
How about your least favorite character?  What makes them less appealing to you?
My least favorite character is Clint. He is cruel and moody. Even though I have great sympathy for him…I don’t like him.
If you could change ONE thing about your book, what would it be?  Why?
Nothing comes to mind. It is exactly how I envisioned it when I began.
Do you have any unique talents or hobbies?
I am an accomplished triathlete and have hiked many miles in some great locations. I also love spelunking.
What's the strangest thing you have ever had to research online for your book?
It is not so strange, but I have researched quite a bit about the plants of the tundra and how they are used in teas. Pretty cool.
GENRE:   Urban Fantasy
BLURB:
He is the unnamed Immortal, the Man from Rome, and he is under attack.
An agent of his secret order has been murdered, her tongue ripped out, her throat coated in molten silver. The killing is meant to be a message, a warning that old enemies have resurfaced to punish the Man for the sins of his past.
Forced to retaliate, the Man sets in motion a sequence of events which pit an American thief, a Roman policewoman, and a fallen Olympian against one another in all-out war. The streets of Rome become a battleground where the supernatural clash with the mortal, and the Eternal City bears witness to yet another chapter in its storied history of violence.
Vengeance reigns supreme in this, the newest Novel from Dylan James Quarles.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXCERPT:

At the intersection of the Via Cicerone, she shifted gears and sped through in front of a honking tour bus. No sooner had it crossed the frame of her rearview mirror than a grey BMW whipped into view and fell in line. Louisa squeezed the wheel and gathered speed. Following suit, the BMW nosed out of traffic to run up the oncoming lane on their right flank. Superior in performance, it bore down on them with the ease of a true predator.

“They’ve found us,” Louisa announced, tipping her head.

Cato turned in his seat, then tensed and reached for the Uzi.

“That was fast,” he said. “I guess I shouldn’t be surprised—”

Swerving hard, Louisa braked and let a delivery van come between them and the BMW just as it drew level. Clutch pressed to the floor, she shifted into second and hopped the Alpha up onto the crowded sidewalk.

“Out of the way!” She yelled. “Mossa—move it! Get out of the way!”

People scattered, making a narrow path as she blew by. Almost to the next cross-street, she cut back onto the main road and came very near to hitting a man on a scooter. Tires squealing, she spun the wheel and clipped a parked car instead. The man on the scooter began to shout something at her, but the grey BMW promptly mowed him down, and pulled along side the Alpha.

“Duck!” Screamed Cato.
