Who is your intended audience and why should they read your book?
My intended audience is anyone who likes to solve a puzzle—and be immersed in a quaint town full of cute shops, wonderful restaurants, adorable pets and quirky, personality-filled characters. When I dreamed up the town of Sylvan Creek and populated it with pet sitter and sleuth Daphne Templeton and friends, my goal was to create a cozy world that readers would want to return to again and again.

Who is your favorite character from your book and why?
My favorite character is my heroine, Daphne. She’s got a doctorate in philosophy, but she’s quite content taking care of animals and living life on a shoestring budget in her little home, Plum Cottage. Throughout the Lucky Paws Petsitting Mystery series, Daphne becomes more responsible. But she never loses her core contentment with who she is.

How about your least favorite character?  What makes them less appealing to you?
I have a love-hate relationship with Daphne’s mother, Realtor Maeve Templeton. She’s completely overbearing, focused on the bottom line and, worst of all, doesn’t like dogs! But she’s also kind of a hoot!

Give us an interesting fun fact or a few about your book or series:
In many ways, I’m very different from my main character. She’s much more of a free spirit. But, for a while, I was a pet sitter with a Ph.D.!

What other books are similar to your own?  What makes them alike?
My books are probably comparable to Krista Davis’s novels, because the setting of my novels, Sylvan Creek, is very pet-friendly. Dogs and cats are welcome just about everywhere.

How can we contact you or find out more about your books?
Here are all my links:

What can we expect from you in the future?
Along with continuing the Lucky Paws series—A Midwinter’s Tail comes out in December—I am writing a new novel for Kensington called A Brushstroke with Death. More to come later!

What can readers who enjoy your book do to help make it successful?

Reviews and word of mouth recommendations are always welcome. If you like the book, please let others know!

The Tail Waggin’ Winterfest is the highlight of the season in the famously pet-friendly Pocono Mountains town of Sylvan Creek. But despite attractions like an ice sculpture display, a dogsled race, and gourmet hot chocolate, Daphne Templeton finds herself annoyed by TV producer Lauren Savidge, who’s filming the festivities. She’s critical, controlling, and as chilly as the January air. Daphne would like to tell her to go jump in a lake—and as a matter of fact, that’s exactly what they’re both going to do . . .

It’s the first-ever polar bear plunge in Lake Wallapawakee, and Daphne and Lauren are among the eighty or so people who charge into the frigid water to raise funds for animals in need. Daphne makes it back to shore—with the help of a mysterious St. Bernard—but Lauren is dragged out stone cold dead. Now, with her trusty basset hound Socrates at her side, Daphne intends to assist Detective Jonathan Black in his investigation—whether he wants her to or not . . .

Includes recipes for homemade pet treats!

  1. Thank you for the Q&A with Bethany Blake. I love everything I've read about "PAWS AND PREDICAMENTS" and would love the opportunity to read the book. The cover is absolutely adorable from the two adorable pooches (great choices of breeds to use) to the words cold noses, cold corpes.

Thanks for being part of the book tour!
