I am starting Henry IV by William Shakespeare as part of the ShakeTube 2018 read-along on YouTube/BookTube. Are you participating? Lukáš will be discussing the play on his channel on September 8.

ACT I

SCENE I. London. The palace.

Enter KING HENRY, LORD JOHN OF LANCASTER, the EARL of WESTMORELAND, SIR WALTER BLUNT, and others

KING HENRY IV

So shaken as we are, so wan with care,
Find we a time for frighted peace to pant,

And breathe short-winded accents of new broils

To be commenced in strands afar remote.

Please join [Rose City Reader] every Friday to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name. - Rose City Reader

  2. I've read a few of Shakespeare's plays but not that one. This week I'm spotlighting The Plot is Murder by V. M. Burns - a mystery within a mystery from my TBR mountain. Happy reading!

  3. I'm a Dickens person myself - school ruined Shakespeare for me! However, I'm a grown up now, and should re-visit them! LOL

  4. I don't think I've read this play, but the adaptation as a part of The Hollow Crown with Jeremy Irons and Tom Hiddleston was excellent.
