Join me in listening to A CHRISTMAS CAROL by Charles Dickens during this winter holiday season. Listen any time between now and December 26, 2018. If you prefer to read a text copy, that's fine too. Don't be afraid...
A Christmas Carol. In Prose. Being a Ghost Story of Christmas, commonly known as A CHRISTMAS CAROL, is a novella by Charles Dickens. That's right. A novella. It's around 80 pages depending on the edition.
Divided into five staves, the audiobook's running time is under three hours (2:43:45, if you are curious). You can download it from Librivox for free or listen to it for free via YouTube (see bottom of the post). Easy-peasy, right?
Often, when I tell people I like to read Charles Dickens' A CHRISTMAS CAROL during the winter holidays, I get weird looks. They seem to think it is a massive tome.
I am surprised at how many people are kinda sorta familiar with the storyline and characters in A CHRISTMAS CAROL, but have not read the actual story. Ebenezer Scrooge, Jacob Marley, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim, and the Ghosts of Christmas (Past, Present, Yet to Come) still figure heavily in today's popular culture.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL is in the public domain and free copies abound. One of my favorites is an audiobook version narrated by Glen Hallstrom for Librivox. It is available on YouTube. Glen's intro is funny, but his delivery is on point. All LibriVox audiobooks are free and in the public domain in the USA.
