Not a Creature Was Stirring (Merry & Bright Handcrafted Mystery) by Christina Freeburn is on book tour with Great Escapes Virtual Book Tours and stops at Readeropolis with an author interview. Enjoy!

Author Interview

1. Who is your intended audience and why should they read your book?

I’d say anyone who enjoys stories that have a light-hearted mood yet deal with serious issues, and if you’re looking for an “older” heroine. Merry is older (as in in her mid-forties and now an empty-nester) than heroines usually featured.

Some of the things I’ve loved about cozy mysteries is the community within them (the story and also the cozy reading community) and even though the plot centers around a murder(s), there is still a feeling of hope and happiness in the book. And I strive to have that mood in my mysteries as well. I like readers to walk away feeling hopefully about the world and the people in it.

2. Who is your favorite character from your book and why?

The main character, Merry, is my favorite character…along with Ebenezer, her pet guinea pig. The reason Merry is my favorite is because she’s going through some similar issues I am (empty nest) and as I’m telling the story from her point of view, I’m in her head a lot. We have a lot in common. I’m also able to expand my crafting knowledge by learning new technique that fall more into Merry’s wheelhouse than mine (I was mainly a scrapbooker but have now branched out into using vinyl more and making décor items.)

3. How about your least favorite character?  What makes them less appealing to you?

Starting out, my least favorite character was the detective. I wanted him to be a little unlikeable, since in way he’s the antagonist for Merry, but as the book progressed another character turned into my least favorite…I can’t tell you why because it factors into the plot. So, this other character turns into my least favorite for a good reason as their true character came out. I love when characters divert from my planned path.

4. If you could change ONE thing about your novel, what would it be?  Why?

The town’s name. I had wanted something Christmassy, yet not a Christmas name that I knew had been used in another book or on a Hallmark Christmas Movie. I thought Season’s Greetings was perfect because I could bring in other holidays as well…but found it’s really easy to forget to add either the apostrophe or the ‘s’ at the end of greetings. I find myself having to add those a few times during the editing stage, and sometimes even double checking that it is Greetings and not Greeting.

5. How can we contact you or find out more about your books?

My website is www.christinafreeburn.com and I also have a Facebook author page: https://www.facebook.com/ChristinaFreeburnCraftyandCrimeAuthor/ where I post about events I’m attending, writing, and crafting. A good email to reach me at is christinaafreeburn@gmail.com.

6. What can we expect from you in the future?

The second book in the series, Good for Goodness Sake, will be coming out October 2019, and I’m working on the third in the series. I’m also hoping to spend some time with Faith, the heroine of my Scrap This Mystery Series, and a Christmas romance I’ve been wanting to write.

7. What can readers who enjoy your book do to help make it successful?

Readers can help authors by reviewing the book online (Amazon, GoodReads, Facebook…) or telling their friends about it. Sharing their love of the book will help bring the book to more people’s attention.

8. Is there anything else you’d like to say?

I’d just like the thank you for hosting me and hope your readers enjoy getting to know Merry and Ebenezer. And I’m always on the lookout for crafting crops/events/classes to attend. Feel free to pop onto my author page and share them.
