I'm a published author and have been writing almost all of my life. I was born in Red Mountain, California. When I was three years old, my folks moved to Oregon and I was raised in Walton Oregon and Eugene, Oregon. I like writing thrillers and specialize in Science Fiction (Sci-fi). I poured my heart and soul into my first published book, a medical thriller, “The Killer Within”. My next published book was a Science Fiction thriller, “The Segmented Tail”. Then, my third published book, another Science Fiction thriller, “The Trail in the Woods” was written and displays a powerful thought-provoking ending. I'm currently working on my new book, another Science Fiction thriller, “The Terminus List”. My next book I plan on writing after The Terminus List is a young adult fiction book series called Bobby McDane and the Missing Unicorn. The first book in the series will be about Bobby learning to fly.
I attended Lyon’s Grade School in Walton Oregon and then graduated from Willamette High School in Eugene Oregon. I graduated with a Mathematics degree from El Camino College in California.
I joined the Navy out of high school and spent four years as a Guided Missile Technician. After leaving the Navy, I worked at Douglas Aircraft Company as a technical writer for five years and then worked at TRW as an electrical engineer. I retired from TRW after working there for over twenty-eight years. I married Linda Bash in 1960 and we had three children. I spent most of my life in California after leaving the Navy in 1962. After a long and fulfilling career in the Aerospace Industry, my wife and I moved to Cottage Grove Oregon in 1998. My wife Linda passed away in 2012. In 2013, I met Donna Gabrielli of Lebanon Oregon. In 2013 I married Donna and moved to Lebanon Oregon where I still live.
In college, an English teacher read one of my Science Fiction short stories and told me that it was really good and it showed that I had a very imaginative mind. She told me that if I kept writing that she thought that someday I’d become a published writer. It took a few years, but her prediction came true when I self published my first book, The Killer Within.
The
Trail in the Woods
by
Stanley C Straub
Genre:
Science Fiction
Something
or someone has encapsulated an entire valley on Earth.
The
story begins at an abandoned overgrown trail with the scary name of
'The Devils Tail'. The trail lies a few miles southeast of Portland
Oregon. The trail has been around for several years and has many
frightening rumors associated with it about why people disappeared
while hiking the trail. Two childhood friends get together and chat
about the trail. One of the friends, Janet Johnson, an experienced
hiker wants to hike the trail and the other Bob Wild is terrified of
the trail and doesn't want to hike it. Bob tells Janet that the
reason he is doesn't want to hike it is because people who hiked the
trail never came back. Janet thinks this is silly and just rumors.
She finally convinces Bob to reluctantly go with her on the trail.
The two of them set out on a thrilling and frightening adventure of a
lifetime. What they encounter changes their lives forever. The hike
encompasses the interactions of people from two different worlds and
the meeting of a Charles Manson type leader who thinks he is God.

"That's really good news," Travis said. Bob nodded his head in agreement and thought, now hopefully we have a chance of getting out of this hell-hole.
"How did you just materialize out of nothing?" Travis asked. He wanted to hug Justine, but he knew that if he did, he too would be converted and he refrained from doing it. "I adjusted the electric energy to allow for a holographic time fracture," she said. "What you see is a hologram. It's easy to do, but hard to explain exactly how it works. I have to turn off the hologram before they find out what I'm doing."
A moment later there was another low crackling sound and she vanished as quickly as she had come.
