Zoey's Place
by E.M. Bannock

GENRE:   Modern Adult Romance w/Erotic elements

Zoey DeLucca is a successful Michigan divorce attorney. Growing up the center of a bitter
custody battle between her neglectful mother and her caring father convinced her to become a Family Law attorney and champion the father’s that seldom won in court.

Her handsome husband, Mickey, works for an oil development company. The money is great but as he climbs the corporate ladder, he must spend more time traveling and away from home.

It was love at first sight when they met in college. Their storybook marriage is the envy of all of their friends. They keep the spark in their marriage glowing red hot with wild, uninhibited behaviors in the bedroom. So why does the feeling of impending doom occupy Zoey’s thoughts?

Zoey’s Place is a modern erotic romance about bonding friendships and life’s lessons. See how Zoey handles the challenges that come her way. Experience her joys, fears, and unusual solutions.

This book contains explicit sex scenes and very mature subject matter. It is intended for adult pleasures only. So, turn on the fan, because it’s going to get hot!

Sparks of electric energy surged between them as the rhythmic tempo of their love play created a sweet melody of passion and desire, building until the thunder of their orgasms drained them of their strength.

Through the years of marriage they always kept the spark of excitement alive in the bedroom. Both were still adventurous and, between the two of them, it was just about anything goes. If they liked it, they added it to their repertoire. If they didn’t, it was a one-time deal. They had tried almost all the positions of the Kama Sutra. Some they passed on because it seemed that only contortionists could get into the twisted positions. They experimented with toys of all kinds, a little SMDS, role-playing, and porn.

Who is your intended audience and why should they read your book?
I’m just a regular person but I happen to like reading sexy romance novels. I write books that I would like to read, so my main audience would be women like myself. Age doesn’t really make a difference as long as you are over the age of 18. My books feature strong-minded women as the lead character, they should interest that type of women as well. I hope to instill a feeling of empowerment to the women that read my books. Life is often hard and I’ve personally experienced situations where I was made to feel inferior because I am a woman. It’s not a good feeling. But it has made me strive to be better then them. I hope that by reading how my female lead characters handle life’s challenges my women readers gain the confidence they need to succeed and strengthen their pride in being a woman.

Tell us a little bit about your cover art. Who designed it? Why did you go with that particular image?
Covers go through trends. I don’t like to be trendy. I tend to like what I like regardless of social morays. I am a reader and I know what attracts me to a cover. I designed the cover for Zoey’s Place. I wanted something striking, sexy, and sultry, but not so far over the edge that people would be embarrassed to carry the book around the airport in view of children.

Lakes play an important part in the book so I thought I would like water on the cover. My first attempt was a couple sitting next to each other by a lake watching the sunset. I like purple so I put a purple frame around it. I posted it on Facebook for reader reaction. It was warmly received but it didn’t WOW.

My second attempt was a little sexier. The couple was standing and embracing, again on a lake with a sunset in the background. I used orange and red tones for this one. It was received better but I wasn’t super satisfied. I figured I still had some time before publication so I’ll just see what happens.

One day I was scanning through a web site looking for some pictures for promotional ads and I came across a great black and white picture of a woman and man that was intimate without being X-rated. The female image on the cover could very well be Zoey and the man could be Mickey. I felt it embodied the mood and feeling of their love. The black and white gave it great impact. I immediately knew this was ‘the one.’ I chose the colors and font for contrast.

Give us an interesting fun fact or a few about your book or series:
Zoey’s Place started out as a writing challenge with summer love as the topic. I got my inspiration from the Flo Rida song, Apple Bottom Jeans (Low). I do Zumba 3 days a week with a group of local women at the Rec Center and this was one of our Zumba songs. In chapter one, Zoey is describes as having “her apple-bottomed ass protruding below her way-too-short cut-off jeans.” This short snippet of a story became the first draft of chapter one. This just proves how wild my imagination is and how weird my mind works because from just that one thought, apple-bottom jeans, I developed a whole book.
Zoey’s Place was a fun book to write. Other than the references to Michigan landmarks and cities, which I’m very familiar with, everything else in the book had to be researched for accuracy, as I’ve never been to Incline Village, NV. I’ve only spent one day in Vegas and that was over 40 years ago, and I have never, ever, been in Riyadh. It was fun learning about these different places and checking out their images and other important facts on the Internet.
I also researched music, movies, technology, and current events of the time period for accuracy and in hopes that my reader will feel connected with the story.

How can we contact you or find out more about your books?

What can we expect from you in the future?
My goal is to write and publish a book about ever two years. The audio book will be released the following year after print publication.

My next book will be a little different than my previous two in that it will take place in the late 1800’s or early 1900’s. My erotic romance novels don’t exactly fit into the moral code of some of the old timers that live in the tiny community (pop. 500 maybe) that I live in. There are many men around here who still believe that women should be kept at home, barefoot and pregnant. They could never imagine a woman in a position of authority and are basically threatened by powerful women. Heck, they are threatened by any woman who speaks her mind and doesn’t kowtow to a man. I’ve been challenged to put them in the book and have my way with them. All of my books have a strong-willed, powerful, independent woman for the lead character and this one will be no different. At this point in time the title is Queen of Clark.

What can readers who enjoy your book do to help make it successful?
Number one would be to buy the book, read it and most important, review it. Readers don’t realize how important a review is. Sellers like Amazon, B&N, others, and most book companies, rely on the reader reviews that are left on Amazon, Goodreads, and Bookbub, just to name a few.

Authors appreciate the feedback more than you know. It is the greatest compliment you can give to an author for the endless hours of work that it takes to write and publish a novel.

Do you have any tips for readers or advice for other writers trying to get published?
For readers, keep doing what your doing. You are who we write for. It’s for your enjoyment and pleasure that we labor. Just don’t forget to leave a review.

For writers, I would say, it’s a hard road. It takes dedication, lots of time, and a fair amount of money to publish a novel. You have to really want to do it. You have to love it.

Don’t skimp on the editing and proof reading. This is a major cost of publishing but so very important. Readers notice things like misspelled words and poor grammar. Don’t turn a reader off with simple, stupid errors. Make your book the very best it can be. Take your time and do it right. It’s your baby. Cherish it.

Learn about marketing, even if you are published by a book company. Getting yourself out there and building up your reader base is harder than writing a book. It’s my weak spot. Had I known that I would get serious about my writing when I was in college, I would have taken marketing classes.

Is there anything else you’d like to say?
In closing I’d like to thank my hosts at Readeropolis for hosting this stop on my Zoey’s Place Virtual Book Tour. I’ve enjoyed sharing a little of myself with your readers and I hope I’ve made them curious to find out how Zoey DeLucca handles all the things that come her way to challenge her perfect world and her perfect marriage. Remember, it’s erotically hot, (lots of fun sexy love scenes) so grab a drink and a fan. You’ll need it.

AUTHOR Bio and Links:

E.M. Bannock grew up in the Detroit suburbs. She is the second child of seven and eldest daughter of a working class family. Her parents had traditional, old style, European ideals which clashed with her modern, adventurous personality. The daughters were not encouraged to attend college. Instead they were expected to get married, have children, and be homemakers.

Her father was a great storyteller and sparked her love for writing. In high school she enjoyed writing short stories and poetry. A small inheritance from her father gave her the funds needed to begin her career as a published author. She has published two books, Totally Devoted, which is also available in audio, and Zoey’s Place.

Born with the wanderlust, she found herself in Los Angeles. LA was an exciting place to be in the early 70’s and she experienced all that it had to offer. She met her husband there.

Marie and her small family have lived in California, Oregon, Alaska, Florida, and Wyoming, where she now lives with her small family which includes a spoiled dog and cat, two horses, also spoiled, and a brood of chickens that live like queens in the chicken-coupe-de-ville.

She has made her living as an office manager, computer programmer/analysts, project manager, clothing sales person, substitute teacher, and buffalo meat packer. Throughout it all, she never lost her love for writing.

E.M. Bannock is a Goodreads Author, a BookHub Author, a member of the Romance Writers of America, and a Rocky Mountain Fiction Writer. Her book, “Totally Devoted” is a finalist for a 2019 NERFA (National Excellence in Romance Fiction Award) in two categories.
