Behind
the Mask
by
Marianne Petit
Genre:
Historical Romance
Author Marianne Petit mixes true life experiences with fiction to create a suspenseful tale of intrigue and romance set in the early days of war-torn France.
In 1940's Paris, both rich and poor are thrust together, a mixed society struggling to survive. American born Yvette Matikunas, one of the privileged few, goes underground with a deathbed promise to her grandfather that has her roaming the streets of France with a dangerous message. She quickly learns that no one is who they seem to be and trust is a thing of the past.
Injured
in battle while trying to save the life of one of his men, Colonial
André Rinaldo is disillusioned by a shell-shocked country and a weak
government. Persuaded to go underground and unite his fellow
compatriots by forming resistance groups, he meets a beautiful
blonde, whose determination to free France from foreign dictatorship
is as strong as his.
In
the middle of espionage and clandestine rendezvous, they form a
partnership that deepens under the ever-present threat of arrest. But
with America’s interest in the war building in the background all
Americans are ordered to leave.
Will
Yvette return to the States, or will André persuade her to stay and
fight for love?

“Embrasse moi,” he whispered as he then kissed her neck and nibbled her ear.
She followed his command and kissed him.
His fingers still caressed the apex of her thighs and then crept closer to that part of her now wet and filled with wanting. He inserted a finger through the bristly thatch of hair, stimulating a response inside her and liquid warmth filled her being. She squirmed and groaned, savoring the delightful sensations, but needing, wanting more of him fully inside her. She tugged on his pants and he helped her push them down until she felt him naked and hard, his erection cradled between her thighs.
“I want to see you,” she said.
He eased off her and she sat up.
With a boldness, she never knew she possessed, she let her gaze wander over the magnificent planes of his broad shoulders and chest, across his chiseled stomach that reminded of a sculpted Greek God. She let her brazen eyes lower to that length of him that jutted strong and full with need. Her face grew hot and she was thankful he had closed his eyes before witnessing her embarrassment.
“Me touchez,” he groaned. “Touchez-moi maintenant.”
Touch him? She smiled at his command, most certainly… She marveled at the muscle that
strained and lengthened beneath the movement of her hand.
“That feels so good…” He put his hand over hers. “Lentement, yes, slowly,” he repeated, “perfect. You’re perfect.”
