For this year's challenge, I will be sharing books I have released or will release (when the pandemic subsides) into the wild and then will follow via BookCrossing. I picked Black Widow: Forever Red (A Marvel YA Novel) by Margaret Stohl for today's letter, B. You can read a sample of the book here

Beautiful Creatures co-author Margaret Stohl and Marvel teamed up for a young adult Black Widow story with two original main characters: Natasha Romanoff and Ava Orlova. I chose to read Black Widow: Forever Red for the Literary Loners Reading Challenge (hosted here on this blog). The main characters are outsiders/loners.

I don't read Marvel comics and rarelwatch Marvel movies. So when I got a paperback chapter sampler as part of a giveaway prize, I was a little skeptical. I did a bit of snooping around. I found a video of Rich Fahle and Tony DiTerlizzi interviewing Margaret Stohl about Black Widow: Forever Red at BookCon. They talked about the expanding audience of comic fans (especially teen girls). You can listen to the interview below.

I went on to read the sampler and eventually to listen tthe full audiobook version of the book. I am going to watch its movie adaption for the 2021 Book To Movie Challenge.

I plan to release my sampler of the book into the wild at a little free library frequented by teens. You can follow this copy's travels on BookCrossing.com using BCID: 652-15639207.

Do you read Marvel Comics? Have you ever gone on to read a book because you enjoyed a sample of it?

AMAZON BOOK DESCRIPTION:

Enter the world of the Avengers' iconic master spy.

Natasha Romanoff is one of the world's most lethal assassins. Trained from a young age in the arts of death and deception, Natasha was given the title of Black Widow by Ivan Somodorov, her brutal teacher at the Red Room, Moscow's infamous academy for operatives.

Ava Orlova is just trying to fit in as an average Brooklyn teenager, but her life has been anything but average. The daughter of a missing Russian quantum physicist, Ava was once subjected to a series of ruthless military experiments - until she was rescued by Black Widow and placed under S.H.I.E.L.D. protection. Ava has always longed to reconnect with her mysterious savior, but Black Widow isn't really the big sister type. Until now.

When children all over Eastern Europe begin to go missing, and rumors of smuggled Red Room tech light up the dark net, Natasha suspects her old teacher has returned - and that Ava Orlova might be the only one who can stop him. To defeat the madman who threatens their future, Natasha and Ava must unravel their pasts. Only then will they discover the truth about the dark-eyed boy with an hourglass tattoo who haunts Ava's dreams....

Black Widow: Forever Red features all the heart-pounding adventure listeners expect from Marvel, written by number-one New York Times best-selling author Margaret Stohl. Uncover a new side of the Marvel Universe that will thrill loyal fans and newcomers alike, as Stohl reveals the untold story of Black Widow for the very first time.

For this year's challenge, I will be sharing books that I have released or will release into the wild and then follow via BookCrossing.

BookCrossing is the act of releasing your books "into the wild" for a stranger to find, or via "controlled release" to another BookCrossing member, and tracking where they go via journal entries from around the world. One of the goals on MY BOOKISH #20for2020 LIST was to show 99 books released on Book Crossing. I am going to try again to reach it this year.
