Who designed your book covers?

Dawné Dominique. She runs DusktilDawn designs and creates covers for several publishers. I love her work! Dawné made the covers for Fighting for Home and also my thriller, Death Masks Author’s New Updated Edition. I met her when I first started working as an editor for a small ebook publisher and she created covers for them. She’s won awards for her covers. Check out her website and you’ll see why. https://www.dusktildawndesigns.com/

What did you edit out of this book?

Fighting for Home is about Amazon Warrior Women. It’s well known historically they took male slaves. I received early feedback that this book could be misconstrued as about misandry (hatred of men). That’s not the case. Yes, slavery was part of their way of life, as was many cultures of the time period. These women valued their men but in a different way than a modern woman does. I cut many scenes involving slavery but still worry about someone reading that into the story, especially after one of my first readers told me he decided the story was not for him. My warrior women find love and friendship, as well as, new ways of life by the end of the novel.

Is there a writer which brain you would love to pick for advice?

I’ve been lucky to have several mentors. The first were teachers in middle and high school. Then, in my early novel writing days, I asked questions of two horror authors I met online. I realize now I was “that newbie” bothering them. Both were gracious and answered me thoroughly. I took their advice and a convention workshop by one. I will always be grateful for their kindness.

Fighting For Home
Descendants of the Amazoi Book 1
by Kim Richards
Genre: Historical Fantasy

In 300 B.C.—the Greco-Roman Age—tribes of warrior women thrived near the Black Sea. The area is now modern-day Turkey. The Greeks called them Amazoi (meaning Mankiller). Inspired by their story, Fighting for Home sings the tale of one tribe as they battle to save their way of life. Healing magic is real! Ilenea and Saphira, the wolf sisters, battle close to home with others of their generation. A healer priestess named Essla travels to a temple of Artemis at Anthela with her male slave, bringing a call to arms for the pending war. She meets and falls in love with a Roman General. Whatever the outcome, this war changes everyone.
